Bodice progress!

I have indeed been working on the Archery gown. When last I wrote, I had everything cut out and had made the trim.
I now have actual sewing progress, and even a few pics to prove it!
A little description of how things stand so far:
I decided not to line the bodice. The fabric is so thick, that to add the extra bulk of a lining would just be to much. Besides it would up the hot factor by more that I am willing to stand!
So I turned to my old friend, bias tape, to finnish the neck line.
I do not have pics with me in it for two reasons.
#1 nobody is about to take them at the moment.
#2 I do not relish being stabbed to death by the Pins Of Death.

Bodice front. I didn't get the V neck as sharp as I would like, but I think I can camouflage it with the trim.
Also note the sleeve. Some how I missed getting a close up shot so this will have to do. Binding the points on this thing is a real pita! I'm using a combination of machine and hand work to get the stuff on. Again I cheated and am using purchased bias. I refuse to make it out of the black velveteen I purchased at Joann's. It would crumble away to nothing before I could bat an eye!

Next we come to the shoulder trim. Its looking just how I imagined it would. (And it hides my wonky stitching! Bonus!)

The Back! After much heart ache and hair pulling, I decided to forgo the lovely gathering at the CB. But I think it looks good the way it is, and I don't have time to try again right now. Hey, at least
jennil and I won't be walking around the county looking like the double mint twins! She did a stellar job on the back!

Stay tape at shoulder seam.

Pins of Death!
I still have a lot to do on the bodice, most of it hand work. My goal is to get the trim placed temporarily, so I can get the skirt on. I can always bring it with me to E's appointments and to the hand stitching while I wait.
I also need to get the lower sleeve finalized. I am debating making it detachable. That way I can take it off if I get too hot! Any thoughts?
I am thinking about joining the Greater Bay area Costumers Guild . I think this dress would work for the Wives & Daughters Picnic. It's 1820's so just squeaks by the time period.
I'm happy with my progress so far. I think it is looking quite a bit like the inspiration gown, so that is a good thing.
Now, It's off to get ready for a birthday party!
