I'm still feeling crappy, and tired to boot.  It's ridiculously hard to sleep when there is something tickling your throat all night.  But I'm sick to death of watching the election coverage and blogging doesn't take much energy.  So here I am.
Saturday I went to see our J.C.'s production of Pride and Pejudice with friends.  I wore my Modern Regency   and got many compliments!  D stayed home with E as he would probably have been asleep halfway into the first act.  Anywho, being such a big fan of the mini-series, I was really curious to see how they would condense so much information into just two and a half hours.  I am pleased to say that they did a great job!  The casting was fantastic!  Especially Mr. Collins.  He stole the show.  Every time he came on stage, the whole crowd erupted into laughter.  The costumes were beautiful.  They really tried to get the look right.  The shoulder seams were where they should be, and the back shaping was pretty good.  Of course most of the gowns were made of modern fabric, but that's to be expected.  After all they're working on a J.C. sized budget!  The guys looked great!  I know a gal who worked on the production crew and she told me their waist coats were all reversible and made of upholstery fabrics.  They must have been dying from the heat!  There was a funny moment when one of the extras/stage hands came out with his breeches undone!  As we were sitting in the front row, and Regency breeches don't exactly hide an open fly, we couldn't help but notice.  It was all I could do not to bust out with totally inappropriate laughter.  If that wasn't bad enough, he went off stage and came back a few minutes later with them still flapping open!  Although I think one of the girls saw it that time, because she kinda scooted in front of him.
All in all, they did a wonderful job.
Sunday was our schools open house/Native American festival, Day Under The Oaks.  I had to be at school by 8:30 to set my projects up for display.  I brought my Green Venetian to demonstrate what we do in flat pattern, and my dress form with the drape of the Archery Gown to demonstrate what draping is all about.  It took over an hour to get the Venetian set up!  Because I couldn't put it in Gemma, I had to find an industry form that would work.  Of course the size 8 was being used, so I had to settle for the 10.  I couldn't get my everything laced as tightly as usual, but it looked good.  The head of the department put it right in front of the doorway, next to a beautiful furniture display, to draw people in.  I wish I had pics, but the batteries in the Kodak were dead.  E was very patient with me through all this.  D couldn't come because he had some work to catchup on, so it was a Mommy and Me day.
We had a great time together!  Because it is also a Native American festival, most of my family was there.  We wound up hanging out at the Indian Health booth, where my mom and sister were volunteering.  We watched the dancers, and E wanted nothing more than to join in.  So I promised her I would let her join a dance group.  Yet anther activity to add to the list!
For a long time, E has had a paralyzing fear of bounce houses or jumpies.  She wants so badly to join in with the other kids but has just been to afraid.  It is really quite sad to watch.  But not anymore!  They had 5 jumpies set up on the football field, and she wanted to go check them out.  So I took her and my niece over, payed $3.00 each for unlimited bounces, and watched as E climbed aboard with not a single moment's hesitation and bounced for all she was worth!  I was so proud of her, I was almost in tears!  I called Daddy right away to share the good news!
Now if only we could conquer the fear of dogs and airplane chairs, we'll be good to go!

In sewing news, not much to report.  I was able to muster up the energy to turn my skirt drape for the Archery gown into a paper pattern.  Tonight I will cut and sew, so should have progress pics tomorrow.  The project is due on the 22nd, so I have to work on it a little each day!  I think the most time consuming thing will be the trim, isn't always.  I now have all the materials and supplies I need, so once it's all fitted and approved, I can start cutting.  I should probably work on getting the trim made so when it comes time to putting it on, I'll be ready.  I should be able to start that on Wednesday.
This morning, I took Marshmallow, the ironic black bunny to the vet.  He has been sneezing quite a bit and we wanted to be sure he is ok.  He has a slight sinus infection, so now I have to give him antibiotics twice a day for 14 days.  This should be an adventure!  Thank goodness, we have a good vet.  He told me he could swab his nose and run tests to see exactly what was causing the infection, but they are very expensive and really not worth it, so why bother?  Now we just need to watch him to make sure the sneezing starts to get less frequent, and be sure he doesn't develop any new symptoms.
