No sewing tonight, I've been fighting a headache all day. Instead, I turn my thoughts to the 1893 Empire gown.
I've been kicking around ideas for the fabric. I'd really like to do a stripe. I think it would accentuate the lines, and make me look thinner to boot! Of course, silk would be the preferred fabric, but in this economy, I'm not sure I can justify the expense.
I found this fabric, but I'm not sure the colors, which I love, are appropriate for the period.
There is this 1891 fashion plate. The pink fabric w/white polka dots is very whimsical, so perhaps the pink an brown stripe isn't to far fetched? Or perhaps that' just wishful thinking?
Any thoughts?
